About the Trip

Peak Dynamics’ Heroes of Telemark Leadership Retreat will:

  • Help grow your confidence
  • Develop further your leadership and management skills
  • Get away you from the hustle and bustle of everyday life

You will return with a real sense of achievement and be inspired by some truly courageous people who showed remarkable resilience and leadership skills.

Based in a stunning and comfortable hotel in the Telemark region overlooking the wild and infamous Hardangervidda plateau. We will let you explore the local area using cross-country skis, which we will teach you how to use. In the evenings, you can relax and enjoy the facilities, such as the swimming pool and sauna.

We will show you how to further your natural leadership and management skills and style. We will show you how the Norwegian saboteurs had to develop many of their leadership skills.

This retreat is very suitable for Family Businesses and Family Offices.

About The Experience

We will show you how a group of young Norwegian resistance fighters were forced into situations of extreme leadership, whilst living and fighting on the Haardangervidda.

A group of Norwegian resistance fighters, after training in the UK, were parachuted back into Norway with the mission to plan a commando raid on the Vermork Norsk Hydro plant in the town of Rjukan in the Telemark region of Norway. When a group of British Royal Engineers, who were to carry out the mission were all killed, it fell to the local resistance to carry out the mission.

We will show you how their inspirational approach to achieving their critical mission in one of the worst Arctic winters displayed all of the qualities required of a modern-day leader. We will show you what specific skills were required to be successful in their mission.

It is an incredible sorry of resilience, courage, leadership and innovation. All human skills still very relevant today.

You will fly into Oslo, the capital of Norway and we will drive you to the hotel up in the mountains. That afternoon, we will issue you cross-country ski equipment and ski boots. We will then venture out for a first gentle ski to get used to the skis and conditions. Over the next two days, we will continue to teach you how to use the cross country skis and then ski some of the groomed trails in the beautiful surroundings around the hotel. During the day you will be taught about different aspects of leadership as well as start to learn about the attack that the saboteurs carried out. In the evenings, you will have a chance to relax, enjoy the sauna and swimming pool for those tired ski muscles.

On the fourth day, we will ski (or snowshoe for those who are struggling with the cross country skis) out to the original huts the saboteurs stayed in. On our final day in the Telemark region, we will set off on skis and snowshoes along the approach route to the attack on the Vermork Plant. You will have a guided tour of the attack and visit the museum at the plant. You will then have a guided tour of the escape route and for the energetic amongst the group a chance to run up the hill that they took in their escape. In the evening, we will have a final dinner together before heading back to the airport in the morning.
